OpenAI has unveiled a new coding tool, marking a key step in its partnership with the chipmaker.

GPT-5.1-Codex-Max, a new agentic coding model, is faster, more intelligent, and more token-efficient than previous models. It is designed for long-running, detailed work and can operate across multiple context windows, enabling project-scale refactors and deep debugging sessions. The model outperforms previous models on various coding benchmarks and is available in Codex for use in the CLI, IDE extension, cloud, and code review.

OpenAI has surpassed 1 million business customers, becoming the fastest-growing business platform in history. This growth is driven by consumer adoption of ChatGPT, with over 800 million weekly users, leading to rapid enterprise adoption and ROI. OpenAI has launched new tools and capabilities, including company knowledge, Codex, and AgentKit, to support businesses in scaling AI deployment and achieving meaningful ROI.
